Price Pack Architecture Calculator

Packs can make the basket look healthier while quietly giving too much away. Use this calculator to compare a pack against selling the same units separately, so you can see whether the discount is truly being paid for by fulfilment leverage and order economics.

  • Compare pack contribution against single-unit selling
  • Measure contribution per unit inside the pack
  • See whether fulfilment leverage actually justifies the structure

Model the pack architecture

Enter the single-unit price and cost, then layer in fee rate, fulfilment, pack size, and discount. The result shows whether the pack improves economics or just makes a weaker order look more exciting.

Three pack-architecture scenarios.

Formula

What pack architecture is really testing

Pack order contribution = Pack selling price - Pack fees - Total unit cost - Pack fulfilment
Contribution lift vs singles = Pack contribution - (Single-order contribution × Pack size)

The point is not just to make AOV bigger. It is to decide whether the pack structure creates a healthier order than selling the same units one by one after discount, fees, and fulfilment are priced honestly.

Where pack strategy gets romanticized

  • Teams treat bigger basket size as proof the pack is working.
  • Fulfilment leverage gets assumed but never measured against the discount.
  • Contribution per unit quietly falls while revenue per order rises.
