Average Order Value Uplift Calculator

AOV uplift gets celebrated quickly, but the more useful question is what the higher basket size creates in contribution once the uplift is scaled across real order volume. This calculator turns a prettier basket into a monthly contribution estimate.

  • See what a higher basket size adds per order
  • Translate AOV lift into monthly revenue and contribution
  • Decide whether bundles or subscription upsells deserve more focus

Calculate AOV uplift value

Enter current AOV, expected uplift rate, monthly order volume, and the contribution margin you want applied to the additional revenue. The result shows how much more contribution the business makes each month if the higher basket size sticks.

Three AOV uplift scenarios.

Formula

What the AOV model assumes

Incremental monthly contribution = (New AOV - Baseline AOV) × Monthly orders × Contribution margin

AOV uplift is only interesting when it survives into retained contribution. This model assumes the uplift sticks across the order volume entered and applies contribution margin to the incremental revenue, not to the whole order base.

Where AOV wins get overstated

  • Teams celebrate bigger baskets without checking the retained contribution.
  • Bundles or installments lift AOV but can also increase fee or fulfilment drag.
  • Monthly impact gets guessed instead of calculated from order volume.
